PROJECT LENO

Rebuilding the future of El Salvador.

Project Leno is a project that focuses on rebuilding a school in Santa Ana, E.S; a school named in honor of our grandfather, Magdaleno Barcenas Flores.

A school located in a village in the department of Santa Ana, El Salvador, is in much need of support. This school has a lot of sentimental value to the owners of the Rinconcito Salvadoreño. A school which has 150 students, lacks the resources to prepare meals for their students due to its kitchen deteriorating. We will be working to raise funding for renovations.

Our grandfather, Papa Leno, was a father of sixteen. Papa Leno dedicated his life not only to working the land to provide for his family, but also served as a community leader. Taking it upon himself, he took the responsibility of servicing any needs that the small village needed. Whether it was bringing fresh water, postal service, or measuring a plot of land for government officials, Papa Leno always put his family and community first.

Rinconcito Salvadoreño is a Salvadoran restaurant that has been serving the community of Port Chester, NY for over 25 years. With history dating back to the early 1980’s in Jamaica, Queens, the Rinconcito Salvadoreño has a family tradition of supporting their community here in the States and back home in their native El Salvador. One of its owners, David Sorto has teamed up Ulises Cartagena, and Salvador Espinoza, all New York based Salvadorans with a passion to help make a social impact for youth in El Salvador.
