It all started when …

two brothers out of fifteen siblings decided to make the life changing decision of leaving their home country of El Salvador. A better future seemed nearly impossible when all they saw around them were the “campos” of El Salvador. With the hope of a brighter future, the two brothers decided to leave their humble beginnings and make their way to the land of opportunity, the United States of America.

After making such a huge step, the two brothers from the group of siblings, Adan and Frank, made their journey to “the city that never sleeps”, New York City. Jamaica, Queens would become their new home and where they had to navigate a completely new world with a new culture, way of life, and language. Regardless of these great challenges they vowed to overcome any obstacle in order to provide for their family.

In 1983, after years of hard work and perseverance, the brothers were able to fulfill a dream of opening up their own restaurant in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. Rincón Salvadoreño was finally open and with the help of some of their siblings who also emigrated, the business was a success. For the first time people of Central America had a place to call their own and a place where food could bring them comfort after leaving their homes in pursuit of a better life.

In 1993, one of the two brothers, Frank, opened Rinconcito Salvadoreño, located at 17 S. Main St. Port Chester, NY. He noticed there was also a need for Central American cuisine in Westchester. Taking a similar formula from the Queens location, he set up the foundation for a successful business.

In 1998, Fabio and Filomena were given the opportunity to take over the Rinconcito Salvadoreño. Filomena is the younger sister of Adan and Frank. She had been helping in the family business since day one and was an integral part of the success of the Queens location. It was now the time for her and Fabio to strive for their family as well.

In 2001, the Rinconcito Salvadoreño relocated to 20 Broad St. Port Chester, NY. The business was forced to relocate due to the redevelopment that took place on South Main St; which is now the new Costco & AMC Movie Theater.

Fabio and Filomena have given everything they have for the Rinconcito Salvadoreño and their family. Leading by example, they constantly were helping the community of Port Chester and the place they left behind in El Salvador. Over the last 23 years in business they have worked tirelessly to provide their customers with excellent cuisine and service. They strive for greatness from the moment a customer enters the restaurant and family friendly environment for everyone to enjoy.

Now that they are a bit older and closer to retirement, their two sons, David and Edwin, have taken it upon themselves to continue the legacy their parents and uncles have built throughout the years. They take pride in the Salvadoran heritage and want to share with anyone willing to take a chance on Salvadoran cuisine and culture. They look up to all the immigrants that go through hard times to provide for their family so that one day they can have a better future. Rinconcito Salvadoreño welcomes everyone with open arms and excitement because we can share our culture through our food.
